About Dr. Nino Mikaberidze

Clinical Background

Dr. Mikaberidze is a board-certified rheumatologist and internal medicine physician specializing in musculoskeletal conditions, autoimmune disorders, and complex inflammatory syndromes. She earned her medical degree from David Tvildiani Medical University in Tbilisi, Georgia, completed residency training at Jacobi Medical Center at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and completed fellowship training in rheumatology at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.

Academic & Clinical Experience

Dr. Mikaberidze has been a practicing physician for more than 15 years. Before joining Manhattan Pain Medicine, she served as Assistant Director of Rheumatology at Northwell Health. She is also an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Clinical Focus

Dr. Mikaberidze treats a wide range of autoimmune and inflammatory conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, vasculitis, ankylosing spondylitis, seronegative spondyloarthropathies, and rare or hard-to-detect syndromes. She also specializes in hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, POTS, dysautonomia, and Small Fiber Neuropathy.

Role at MPM

At Manhattan Pain Medicine, Dr. Mikaberidze helps identify and manage systemic, inflammatory, and immune-driven contributors to complex pain. Her role is especially important when inflammation, autoimmune activity, mast cell activation, dysautonomia, or neuropathic symptoms may be amplifying pain or interfering with healing.

Treatment Approach

Dr. Mikaberidze’s care may include advanced diagnostic evaluation, laboratory review, diagnostic ultrasound, MRI review, skin punch biopsy for Small Fiber Neuropathy, medication management, disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs, biologic therapies, injections, and infusions. Her work helps stabilize systemic contributors so the broader team can select treatments in the appropriate order.

Collaborative Care

Dr. Mikaberidze works closely with the MPM team, including physician assistants, interventional pain physicians, rehabilitation partners, and pain psychology specialists. Her approach supports MPM’s diagnosis-first model by helping clarify when pain is being driven or amplified by systemic inflammation, immune dysfunction, autonomic dysregulation, or overlapping rheumatologic disease.

Languages

Dr. Mikaberidze is fluent in English, Russian, and Georgian.

Rheumatology for Complex Pain

Dr. Mikaberidze helps identify autoimmune, inflammatory, and systemic contributors that may be missed when pain is evaluated only through a structural lens.

Identifying Systemic Drivers of Pain

For many patients with complex pain, systemic inflammation or immune dysfunction can amplify symptoms, obscure the diagnosis, or affect how the body responds to treatment. Dr. Mikaberidze helps evaluate these factors carefully so care can move forward with better clinical clarity and a more coordinated treatment plan.

“Listening first. Treating thoughtfully. Empowering patients through expert, personalized rheumatologic care, because every patient deserves to be heard, understood, and given the opportunity to restore their quality of life.”

Dr. Mikaberidze supports MPM’s collaborative approach to autoimmune, inflammatory, and complex pain care.
