About Dr. Tayyaba Ahmed
Clinical Background
Dr. Ahmed is a board-certified specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Born and raised in New York, she earned her medical degree from the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed residency training at Northwell Health on Long Island and the Rusk Institute for Rehabilitation at NYU Langone Health in Manhattan.
Pelvic Pain Expertise
Dr. Ahmed began her career treating sports injuries, but her clinical focus shifted after recognizing that many patients were not fully recovering through conventional approaches. Her search for deeper answers led her to the role of pelvic floor dysfunction in unresolved pain, which became a central part of her clinical work.
Clinical Focus
Dr. Ahmed evaluates and treats male and female pelvic health concerns, chronic pelvic pain, sexual wellness concerns, bladder dysfunction, pelvic floor dysfunction, endometriosis-related pain, adenomyosis-related pain, and complex pain patterns involving the pelvis, hips, spine, nerves, and surrounding soft tissues.
Procedural Care
Dr. Ahmed performs pelvic floor trigger point injections and specialized diagnostic blocks to help identify specific sources of focal pelvic pain. Her work often helps clarify whether symptoms are being driven by pelvic floor dysfunction, nerve irritation, hormonal or gynecologic contributors, musculoskeletal factors, or overlapping pain generators.
Role at MPM
At Manhattan Pain Medicine, Dr. Ahmed leads the Pelvic Pain pathway and provides direct, comprehensive consultations for patients with complex pelvic pain concerns. She also collaborates with other physicians in the practice to provide independent evaluations and support diagnostic accuracy in complex cases.
Care Philosophy
Dr. Ahmed’s approach is shaped by her osteopathic training and her belief that the body can self-heal and self-regulate when given the right support. She is known for taking time to listen, understand the whole person behind the symptoms, and help patients feel seen in a part of medicine that is often under-recognized.
Pelvic Pain Expertise With a Whole-Person Lens
Dr. Ahmed helps patients uncover hidden pelvic floor, nerve, musculoskeletal, and systemic contributors to pain so care can move beyond symptom management toward a clearer diagnosis and more targeted treatment plan.
